PRACTICE AREAS

Mr. Pavlic advises clients in criminal and civil litigation, having special dominion of highly complex cases. He also advises in administrative punitive processes and provides international consultancy.

TRAJECTORY

He began his career in the State Defense Council as a litigation attorney in Santiago and later in the Ninth Region of Chile.

Outside the public sector, he served as a litigation attorney until joining the Public Criminal Defense Office, where he leaded the installment of the Regional Criminal Defense Office in the Ninth Region of Chile, in the beginning of the gradual implementation of Chilean Criminal Procedure Reform.

Then he returned to Santiago to assist with the installation of the Metropolitan Criminal Defense Office, taking over as Head of the Research Department of the National Criminal Defense Office and later serving as Regional Public Defender for the Southern Metropolitan Criminal Defense Office.

He also served as National Public Defender, as subrogate, during a critical period of the installation process of the institution.

Diploma Social Management and Public Policy, FLACSO.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES AND DISTINCTIONS

Mr. Pavlic represented the Chilean Public Criminal Defense Office before the Inter-American Association of Defense Offices (AIDEF) and developed other projects with other international agencies, such as British Council (UK), GTZ (Germany) and CIDA (Canada).

In the academic department, Mr. Pavlic has taught Law Ethics, Oral Litigation, Criminal Defense Law and Criminal Procedure at the Universidad de Chile and Universidad de Concepción, among other Universities.

He is an oral litigation instructor and Academic Director representing Chile in the ACCESS Project of the California Western School of Law in San Diego, California, USA. He has taught in Ecuador, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and the United States. He is also a listed instructor of the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative.

Mr. Pavlic has also represented Chile as a speaker in a Criminal Justice panel organized by the “California Innocence Project” and in a Law Ethics panel organized by the “Trans-Border Institute” of the University of San Diego, USA.

PUBLICATIONS

Mr Pavlic has published various works in numerous national and international Legal Journals, such as University of Cincinnati Law Review.
